Alcoa Point Henry
Alcoa Point Henry has proudly partnered with United Way Geelong since its operations commenced in 1963. Alcoa Point Henry makes an annual corporate donation to United Way Geelong and is the naming rights sponsor of the Alcoa Australian Head of the River, an event which raises more than $130,000 for the Geelong community each year.
Alcoa employees personally support the United Way Workplace Giving Program through making personal donations from their salary, and each year an Alcoa employee participates in the Loaned Executive Program. Alcoa Point Henry also supports employees to take part in a range of other United Way fundraising events including the Barwon Banks Fun Run and Corporate Triathlon.
Alcoa Point Henry is proud of its 45 year partnership with Geelong’s peak charitable organisation and is looking forward to working together with United Way in 2009 and beyond to improve the capacity of over 70 vital health and human care agencies within the region.
Ford Driving United Way
Ford Australia and United Way Geelong have enjoyed a long and successful partnership. Ford Australia has been a Premier Supporter of United Way Geelong since inception in 1954 and was pivotal in the establishment of the Geelong Community Chest, now known as United Way Geelong.
Ford Australia provides United Way Geelong with three brand new cars to support the running of their daily business; raising vital funds for their 70 Community Partners.
Ford Australia ‘s Geelong Community Committee Chairman, Craig Brock said that “Ford Australia is pleased to be able to assist United Way Geelong to increase its capacity to help the Geelong community. Ford Australia’s continued support of United Way Geelong is a testament to Ford Australia’s long term commitment to the Geelong community” Craig went on to say.
In addition to supporting United Way Geelong with a vehicle sponsorship, Ford Australia is also a major financial supporter of United Way Geelong and encourages their employees to contribute through Workplace giving. Ford has also supported the Loaned Executive program since its establishment in 1966, when they were one of six companies to nominate an employee in that first year.
Shell Refining Australia
Shell Geelong Refinery has provided a substantial annual corporate donation to United Way Geelong since 1954.
The refinery’s employees support United Way through fundraising activities, the United Way Workplace Giving Program and the Loaned Executive Program. Employees also participate in a range of events including the Alcoa Australian Head of the River. United Way also benefits from having a Shell employee sit on its Corporate Partners and Promotions Committee and the Community Partner Grants Allocations Panel.
In 2008 Shell Geelong Refinery funded a Presentation DVD to assist Loaned Executives in the promotion of United Way Geelong. United Way is looking forward to continuing its significant historical partnership with Shell.
G-Force
G-Force Recruitment is a proud sponsor of United Way and contributes a donation on behalf on the organisation to United Way Geelong each year. Community-minded employees are engaged by the commitment of G-Force Recruitment to United Way and this is demonstrated through their participation of the Workplace Giving Program and the Loaned Executive Program. The Chief Executive of G-Force – Michael O’Brien is also a Board Member of United Way.
G-Force Recruitment set up a charity donation program whereby $50 for every new apprentice who joins G-Force can be donated to United Way.
G-Force Recruitment and United Way are looking forward to working in partnership on new projects in 2009 designed to raise even more funds for the Geelong community.
